Oscars 2024: The 96th Academy Awards (Oscars) is going to start shortly. In such a situation, Oscar Award is being discussed everywhere. Everyone’s eyes are fixed on this. Meanwhile, now Oscar winning producer Guneet Monga Kapoor is in the news.
Actually, recently Direct has talked about the distance between Indian films and Oscars. He told why very few Indian films are able to make it to the Oscar Awards…
Guneet Monga said this about Indian cinema
While talking to India Today, Guneet Monga said, ‘For this, first of all we have to find those films which have received applause in any film festival. These platforms exist so that beautiful filmmakers can come forward. Indian films are now being played more and this will help.
Told why only a few films make it to the Oscars
Guneet further says that ‘To take your film to the Oscars, it will be most important that you first find such distributors in America who can promote your film well. They can spend both their time and money. For this, film producers will have to plan a good campaign. To put it in simple language, if Karan Johar promotes ‘Lunch Box’, then this news will reach every corner of the country. This is not a matter of one or two days, it is a long process.
Said- It’s like participating in an Olympics
He also said that ‘Awards are not proof of our talent. But this gives recognition to filmmakers on the global platform, which is a matter of pride. This is very exciting. It feels like we have participated in the Olympics or like winning a medal for our country. He further said that ‘Awards do not put pressure on me. I don’t make films for awards. I do my work every day and work hard. The rest will be taken care of by God.
Let us tell you that last year Guneet Monga won the Oscar for ‘The Elephant Whispers’ in the Best Short Film category at the 95th Academy Awards. This year, the film ‘To Kill a Tiger’ is the only Indian film which has been nominated for Oscar 2024.
